GRADUATE AND POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS
Izmir University of Economics is pleased to announce that it will be offering the following international masters and Ph.D. scholarships for students commencing their postgraduate studies in 2008-2009. The scholarships are offered by the Graduate School of Social Sciences of the University to encourage mobility and high quality research.
The scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to international graduate and postgraduate research students of outstanding merit and research potential. The scholarships cover tuition fees for graduate studies lasting for 2 years /and postgraduate studies lasting for 4 years at Izmir University of Economics, Turkey, which worth approximately $12,000 per masters scholarships, and $24,000 for Ph.D. scholarships.
The scholarships offered for the graduate programs in 2008-2009 Academic Year are indicated below (Quotas shown next):
MBA - Master of Business Administration - 3 students
MA in Logistics Management - 2 students
MA in European Studies - 2 students
MA in Financial Economics - 2 students
Ph.D. in Business Administration - 2 students
University has the right to award either some or none of these scholarships depending on the qualifications of the applicants.
Eligibility: In order to be eligible for consideration, the candidates should be the national of the countries other than Turkish Republic. The candidates should hold an undergraduate degree in either Social Sciences (such as Business, Economics, Politics, History etc.) or Engineering Sciences.
The candidates should show proofs of their English Proficiency Level by presenting the scores of several tests approved by the University. The candidates should also present the score cards for GMAT or GRE and prove that they have the sufficient level of scores from either of these tests.
To be eligible for consideration the candidates should have submitted the Scholarship Application Form and supporting documentation by the closing deadline of 5 August, 2008, have sufficient funds to cover the costs of the study over and above those covered by the scholarship, and not be in receipt of a full fees scholarship from any other source.
The scholarship covers tuition fees and accomodation expense in university dormitories. Students will also be provided with a monthly allowance that is determined and paid by the Board of Trustees.
Scholarships do not cover living expenses in Turkey, transportation and transfers, bureaucratic expenses at governmental offices (such as passport and visa), or any other similar expenses.
I. Requirements For Graduate Programs (If applying for a scholarship)
o An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution (at least 4 years),
o To be holding minimum 550 points from GMAT (Graduate Management Aptitude Test); or a minimum of 950 (verbal and quantitative total) from GRE (Graduate Record Examination),
o To be successful in the scientific interview
o Acceptance of statement of purpose by the Graduate School Committee
o Presentation of two Reference Letters
II. Requirements For Ph.D. Programs (If applying for a scholarship)
o An undergraduate degree (at least 4 years) OR a graduate degree from an accredited institution,
o GPA of minimum 3.00/4.00 in undergraduate or graduate programs,
o To be holding minimum 650 points from GMAT (Graduate Management Aptitude Test); or a minimum of 1100 (verbal and quantitative total) from GRE (Graduate Record Examination),
o To be successful in the written scientific exam,
o Acceptance of statement of purpose by the Graduate School Commitee
o Acceptance of research proposal by the Graduate School Commitee
o Presentation of two Reference Letters (at least one from academics)
Documents Required for Applications
o Original diploma (graduate or undergraduate) OR notarized copy of graduation document,
o Document of equality for diploma for foreign applicants (can be obtained from Ministry of Education)
o GMAT or GRE documents,
o Transcripts,
o Reference letters
o Statement of Purpose
o Research Proposal (Only for PhD candidates)
o Testified copies of residence paper,
o Photocopy of identity card (Original should be presented) OR notarized copy of the passport for foreign applicants,
o 4 photographs.
Special Conditions for Foreign Students
o Residence permit and student visa will be required for foreign students who register for graduate programs.
o Foreign students should take necessary measures to afford their living in Turkey. Upon application for student visa, Embassies or Consulates of the Turkish Republic should request official documents to prove financial sufficiency.
