The Graduate Program of European Studies offers its students two different options: a program with thesis, and one without thesis. While the Graduate Program of European Studies with Thesis is designed to allow its students to conduct further scientific studies under the direction of the department, the program without thesis is designed for students that wish to work at private sector enterprises and develop a superior understanding of the EU.

The European Union is a unique supranational integration model in history. The organization extends far beyond a simple framework of cooperation; it is the offspring of a thoroughly newly emerging political structure. The European Union is the most distinguished and advanced example of international integration movement and especially because of this 'sui generis' supranationality it will continue to receive unparalleled scrutiny from the academic community. In the coming years the European Union, alongside the USA, China, and Russia, could enjoy a greater role as a dominant world power of the post-cold war era. In addition, to better understand foreign relations and the socio-economic circumstances affecting Turkey, we are obliged to analyze the relations between Turkey and the European Union. The Turkish economy has become more and more integrated with the European Single Market since 1996, with the progress of the Turkey - EC Customs Union. Consequently, the firms and companies involved in external trade are in constant need of information about European integration process.

The Graduate School of Social Sciences presents the Graduate Program of European Studies and thus places great importance on research and training activities concerning European Studies, the integration of Turkey with the European Union, and Turkey's relations with the EU.
